Film/Editing Portfolio

While my primary goal is to have a career as a pre-visualization artist, I still love the process of editing and its power in visual storytelling, and I try to improve those skills whenever I get the chance. Growing up, I loved making "movies" and stop-motion videos with the family camera. That continued throughout high school, where for any project I was given creative freedom, I always submitted some form of video or animation. At SCAD, I majored in Sequential Art but minored in Film & Television as well. Because my ambitions of being a Storyboard Artist involved working in the Film industry, I tried to learn as much about the filmmaking process as I could through those classes. In those courses, the concepts and skills I began to explore growing up had a place to thrive, collaborating alongside other film students with new and different perspectives.

A Late Night
232 Project | Fall 2022

This short was a group project for a Film Production class. While the focus of the assignment was playing with day and night through lighting, I took the opportunity to practice composition and flow of the story. Knowing ahead of time I was taking on the cinematographer role as well as the editor, I was able to work on montages and found a way to tell a complete story while adhering to the restricted runtime assigned. While I was not the Director nor in charge of the entire production, I was happy with some of the shots we captured (esp. as a Storyboard Artist) and the submitted edit.

Bohemian Rhapsody
EPK Project | Winter 2023

This project was originally an assignment for my Film Post-Production class. Using a considerably sized Electronic Press Kit (EPK) for the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, I formed a cohesive narrative about the importance of Freddie Mercury and the other members of Queen in the music industry and how crucial it was to capture that within the film. I wanted to create a promo that was more than just disjointed clips of the cast talking about how they made the movie, but one that tries to sell the film and entices music fans to buy a ticket. This was my first project using Avid Media Composer which helped me learn the workflow of a different editing software than I was used to.

Peace and Quiet
FILM 100 Project | Winter 2022

This was my first project for my Intro to Film class (FILM 100). Because of the school's COVID safety policies at the time, no equipment was available and the only person allowed to film in my dorm room was my roommate. With no dialogue, my assignment was to tell a story through other ways of audio. Having just rewatched Whiplash, I wanted to use a fun, chaotic jazz instrumental to emulate that feeling of relentless distractions.

Daydream
100 Project | Winter 2022

Another project from my Intro to Film class. The restriction of this assignment was the short had to be one take with no cuts at any point. Because of this, editing may seem like an afterthought. Since there were no shots to trim or stitch together, a lot of my time went into differentiating reality and the "daydream" through slight color correction, sound effects, and music playing from Dave's earbuds.
